As a creative producer for Edisen, I worked with Netflix (The Swoon) as my key client. I helped to produce and manage multiple types of videos to help Netflix promote Korean dramas to an international audience. My responsibilities included creative ideation, pitching, video production and client management. I worked with editors to produce videos, with designers to coordinate graphic designs in videos, and project managed the videos end-to-end until client delivery. I also led large-scale projects such as online live streams and creating interactive quizzes. Over the last 2 years, I've produced over 40 videos for The Swoon, here are 10 projects that I'm proud to share.

Project description

I was given the opportunity to be the project lead for a live stream event with Song Kang, a popular South Korean actor and affectionately termed "Netflix's son", hosted on The Swoon. I led a team of ten editors, designers, social media managers and content operations and oversaw the production of 28 social media assets promoting the livestream fan meeting on various Netflix social media channels. I was the key contact between my team and our Netflix clients, troubleshooting issues raised and coming up with solutions to ensure we met production timelines with minimal hiccups. I also coordinated with the on-site team in Korea on the day of and during the livestream and helped to provide live updates on The Swoon's social media channnels. The event was a big success and currently has close to 1 million views on The Swoon, providing a great example for future live stream fan events.

Project description

My first project on The Swoon was being the project manager for the first ever interactive quiz done by Netflix, pioneered by The Swoon. I worked closely with a team of 6 editors, both freelance and in-house, to produce 85 videos that were part of a series of interactive quiz questions allowing fans choose their ideal K-drama boyfriend. I also worked closely with graphic designers to create customized thumbnails for each K-drama character, and liased directly with the Netflix localization team to translate the videos into multiple languages to ensure accessibility for global fans. The aim of the project was to promote talent and title discovery on Netflix via a unique quiz format that would be fun for fans to enjoy. The project took 7 months to come to fruition and was met with a very positive response, both from fans and the internal Netflix teams who complimented our team on the innovative idea, solidifying us as leaders at the forefront of content ideation.

Project description

After the success of the K-drama Boyfriend Quiz on The Swoon, I wanted to continue leveraging on the unique quiz format to promote Netflix titles, while finding ways to shorten production timelines. For the hit Netflix series Squid Game, I successfully pitched and produced another immersive quiz but simplified the concept in order to release it during Squid Game's campaign period. The quiz was designed to get fans to answer 6 questions similar to the scenarios contestants in Squid Game faced, fans would have to answer all 6 correctly in order to "win" the game. All incorrect choices along the way led them to take the quiz again. I worked closely with editors and designers to create videos that resembled Squid Game, both in edit-style and graphics, and was in charge of managing the project timeline ensuring the quiz was released during Squid Game's promotional period. I also liased directly with the Netflix localization team to translate the videos into multiple languages to ensure accessibility for global fans. This quiz also met positive responses as fans were excited to be involved in Squid Game.

I was heavily involved in the post-production for this social shoot concept that The Swoon shot with the cast of the Korean drama, "My Liberation Notes". I was in charge of post-production feedback, which included providing feedback with colorists for color grading, and providing edit feedback to the editor on sound design, graphics, video content flow. I was also the graphics producer for this asset and was in charge of working with a designer to conceptualize and produce a full graphics suite for this concept to be used for future social shoots. I provided feedback to help workshop her ideas into strong designs that were approved by our clients and together, we worked on the title card animation, question graphics, font choice, and custom emojis to be used for this concept. I was also in charge of managing the project by communicating with the clients on project timelines, passing on client feedback on the edit, and keeping the team updated on the progress of the project to ensure we delivered the asset on schedule.

Project description

I pitched and produced this idea by taking the well-recognized "funniest moments" video concept and adding a twist to the editorial angle. I made use of the common fan-made video concept "making us laugh for X minutes straight" to allow Netflix to be seen as a brand that's more relatable to fans and is in the know of fan culture and language. I worked with an editor to produce this video by selecting the moments I wanted to include and enhanced the edit further by adding supers, sound effects and graphics. This is one of my favorite videos that I produced as I love how the pacing, edit style and graphics turned out.

Project description

I pitched and produced this idea by taking the easily recognizable "expectations versus reality" concept and applying it to common courtship themes found in Korean dramas. I worked closely with a designer and graphics producer to create graphics incorporating a slider graphic to help visualize the "expectations versus reality" concept well. This video was well-received among K-drama fans as they were familiar with the tropes included.

Project description

I pitched and produced this idea based on the well-loved "enemies to lovers" fictional trope that is also very commonly seen in Korean dramas. I broke down the stages of falling in love with one's enemy using section copy and complemented the sections with corresponding K-drama scenes using famous "enemies to lovers" K-dramas such as Secret Garden, Boys Over Flowers, and Vincenzo.  For graphics, I worked very closely with a designer and graphics producer and made use of text-style animation + animated elements to supplement the concept.

Description

I was given the opportunity to increase my job offering by taking on the additional role of being the graphics producer in the team. For my first project, I worked with a team of designers to create a desktop-style graphics suite, which helped tie in the separate vlog footage shot by the cast of the Netflix series "The Sound of Magic" into 1 seamless asset. I provided feedback to the designers to help workshop their ideas into feasible concepts, and was their representative to pitch their ideas to our clients by helping to explain the rationale behind adding these graphics to the footage. Once the concept was approved, I assisted the designers by providing feedback on their style frames and helped to polish their designs, before handing the assets off to be animated by a motion graphics designer.

As the graphics producer for this project, I worked with a designer to come up with design concepts for the social shoot concept "How Well Do You Know Your Fans?" shot with the cast of the Korean drama "Alchemy of Souls". I provided feedback to help workshop her ideas into strong design options and represented the designer to pitch a design concept emulating a live chat function to symbolize the relationship between stars and their fans. Once the concept was approved, I assisted the designer by providing feedback on her style frames and helped to polish her designs.
